It seems just all so serene
Don’t know quite what to believe
Card I saw tucked up your sleeve

But I see a light down the way
Beckoning & calling my name
Implores me to take the next step
No matter of the odds which are bet

So I step on out the door
Look up & then down my floor
Hall light short circuits inside
It sparks flickers flames then dies

Feel primed & ready to score
Pour it on & give it some more
Riding the pendulum swing
To the clasp I desperately cling

As you call I’m pulling away
Expired meter voiding my stay
Penalty fine I can’t afford to pay
I’ve got nothing to say

Bust loose
Breaking headlong into the wind
Lit fuse
Propelling me further away again
No use
Going where there’s no return to send
Hit cruise
Waiting way past beyond the bend

So I walk on down the road
Shall pay when I hit the toll
Grey clouds clustering ahead
Obscure the path I once tread

But I feel the wheel start to turn
Correcting redirecting my burn
Feeling the envelope spring
No telling of the launch it may bring

Make up ground without any sound
Feeling the sweat start to bead
Tells me of the sign I should heed
